“Do you want to be a girlfriend?” He was gazing at me behind round, wood- framed glasses, hair all kinky, wild and free. He had this calm seriousness on his face, but even still, I felt as if I was melting while my heart was beating a million times per second simultaneously.

I don’t think it even took me a few seconds before I responded with a quick, “Yes, I do.”

He kissed me. Kissed my cheek. Kissed my neck. Kissed my lips.

We were sitting in a dimly lit lounge deeply hidden away on the outskirts of Hollywood. Snuggled in a velvet cushioned booth together, he had one of his arms around my shoulder while the other hand snuck into my dress grabbing my breasts. I was turned towards him, cuddled up into his chest. While I was holding on to his arm that was around my shoulder, I was playing with the gold band on his wedding finger. We had been sipping on Side Cars and Martinis for a couple hours in between lots of laughter and talking, kissing and touching. Soft jazz and old school sounds were playing in the background. I don’t remember anyone else being there but us, because as far as I was concerned, no one else was. I was mesmerized and caught up in these feelings I hadn’t felt in a long time. I was excited and curious and totally overwhelmed by the affection and attention from him. I was throwing all precaution to the wind and jumping in, feet first, to what, I had no idea.

But I loved him.

This may sound like a typical reaction after two people have been dating each other for a while, at least a few weeks. But this was not the case in this situation.

It was our first date.

It was our first time meeting face to face.

And oh yea, I forgot to mention…

He was married.
